Located on the corner of State and Cedar Street in Little Italy, at 1602 State Street, San Diego, CA 92101, Pappalecco is great place to visit for a reasonably priced breakfast meal of quiche and coffee drinks, as well as sandwiches, desserts and gelato. Map There are two other Pappalecco locations, one in Hillcrest and the other in Kensington. There’s some seating inside, but the outdoor patio seating is better, especially on a beautiful day.
A small latte, small cappuccino, ham quiche and vegetable quiche came to $20.37, which is a pretty good deal for a downtown San Diego breakfast for two people. There’s a selection of other breakfast sandwiches, croissants, desserts and cookies as well as coffee and teas.
The coffee drinks are smooth and rich. The quiche, served with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and basil leaf, is moist and the crust is light. The ham quiche is made with egg, ham and Gruyere cheese. The quiche veggie is made with egg, vegetables like spinach and mozzarella cheese.
Nothing tops off a good breakfast like a dessert of gelato. If you’re not sure which flavor to get, you’re welcome to sample the gelato flavors.
My favorite is simple chocolate and mint chocolate chip. It’s alright to mix and match your flavors. So good!
