Whenever I have a free Saturday morning, my favorite thing to do is visit the Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market. Each Saturday from 8:00am – 2:00pm, Cedar St. is lined with over 200 tents of vendors from Kettner Blvd. to Front Street. Map There’s a huge selection of vendors ranging from fresh cut flowers to organic vegetables to woodcrafts to specialty dog treats. There’s plenty of dining choices as well. Choose from fresh juices, lemonade and coffee to crepes, Indian food and more. A list of vendors can be found here .

Fresh nectarines too tempting to pass up!
I always look for the berry stand. These are some of the best red raspberries, blackberries and blueberries I have ever tasted.
The vegetables at all the stands are always so fresh. Best to bring a bag to carry everything home.
The strawberries are incredible. So juicy and perfectly ripe.
The Earth Equals Farm to Smoothie stand has fresh juices and smoothies. I ordered the OM Green juice. It was a delicious mix of kale, chard, green apple, lime, ginger, mint, date, flaxseed, sea salt and filtered water. http://www.earthequals.com
I always look for the Bitchin’ Sauce stand. Bitchin’ Sauce is more like a dip or spread, than a sauce. It’s made with almonds and it is addicting. There’s six different flavors which can all be sampled; Original, Chipotle, Cilantro Chili, Pesto, Bombay and Heat. They’re all delicious with tortilla chips which can also be purchased at the stand. http://bitchinsauce.com/index.html
