Extraordinary Desserts, located at 1430 Union Street, San Diego, CA 92101, in Little Italy, is definitely a restaurant to try. Map There’s another location in Banker’s Hill, close to Balboa Park. Extraordinary Desserts serves food, but it is best known for it’s extraordinary display of desserts. Visiting Extraordinary Desserts is a very special experience. You’re greeted by friendly staff and the service is excellent.
The atmosphere is very open and inviting. Seating at the bar is comfortable.
The menu is extensive. There are dips, spreads, bruschetta, soup, salads, panini and sandwiches to order.
Now it’s time to view the dessert selection and mark down your choices. Every dessert on display is beautiful. The photos don’t capture how pretty the desserts are.
An absolute delight for the senses!
The latte is simply beautiful as well as smooth and creamy.
The Linzer Danish Raspberry is a rich and buttery pastry dough covered with frangipane and raspberry preserves with sweet icing. Frangipane is an almond or almond-flavored filling.
The Truffe Framboise is outstanding. It’s made of ripe, juicy raspberries and raspberry tea infused Valrhona chocolate mousse layered in between chocolate ganache and Kirsch moistened chocolate cakes. Ganache is a glaze or icing made from chocolate and cream. Kirsch is a colorless, mild fruit brandy made from cherries. It’s so rich and decadent. Almost too pretty to eat..almost. 🙂
And if you’re looking for something special or any gifts, there’s a selection of books, teas and candies to take home.
